Southern Small Town Living Close to the City

Winston Pointe Subdivision

Tucked in to corner of Johnston County - just over the Wake County line, you'll find the charming small southern town of Clayton, NC. It's one of those rare places where you can experience classic small town life, yet meet friends for dinner downtown in the state capital with just a short 20 minute drive.

You'll find that for the residents of Clayton, being in a small town doesn't mean being stuck in the past. Clayton's population has grown 131% over the past 10 years, and the town is ready to grow even larger without losing its history and charm. Clayton's Comprehensive Growth Plan 2040 provides for the infrastructure to support rapid growth while keeping the town's rich history and small town feel in the limelight.

Take a stroll through Downtown Clayton to visit the many quaint specialty shops, restaurants, library, an ice cream shop, weekend farmer's market, jewelry stores, and more than a dozen personal care businesses. Some of Clayton's oldest businesses are still in operation today. You can also take in a jazz concert, musical or show at the Clayton Center, a former elementary school that now serves as a center for the arts. Several community parks offer walking trails, ball fields, tennis courts, a dog park and playgrounds.

For those times when only the big city will do, you can drive about five miles to White Oak Shopping Center in Garner. The plaza boasts national retail shopping, dining, and entertainment venues such as a cinema. For even more options, hop on nearby Interstate 40 and drive 20 minutes to downtown Raleigh or any of the surrounding Triangle communities.
